Case study SEO + Local SEO
A website redesign that didn't cost them their rankings
Capital Techies is a people-first managed-IT provider for Washington, DC and the Mid-Atlantic. They were rebuilding their website — a migration that routinely destroys SEO. We handled the pre- and post-migration SEO so their rankings didn't just survive the redesign; they grew.
The challenge
Capital Techies is a people-first managed-IT provider serving Washington, DC and the Mid-Atlantic across nine locations. They were rebuilding their website from the ground up — and a redesign is one of the most dangerous things you can do to SEO. New URLs, missing redirects, changed page structure: migrations routinely wipe out years of hard-won rankings overnight.
They didn't want to gamble the organic visibility they'd built. So they brought us in for one job: make sure the redesign launched without tanking their search rankings — and, ideally, came out stronger.
What we did
- 01
Pre-migration SEO audit
Before anything moved, we mapped what was ranking and why — the URLs, pages, and on-page signals carrying organic traffic — so nothing valuable could quietly disappear in the rebuild.
- 02
Redirect and URL mapping
We mapped every old URL to its new home and specified the redirects, so Google could follow each page across and the link equity carried over instead of evaporating.
- 03
Preserve on-page and technical SEO
We made sure the new build kept the titles, structure, and technical signals that earned the rankings in the first place — and fixed what the redesign could have broken.
- 04
Local SEO setup
Alongside the migration work, we set up and optimised their Google Business Profile presence across their service area, so the local searches that drive IT enquiries could actually find them.
- 05
Post-migration monitoring
After launch we watched rankings and indexation closely, catching and correcting anything that slipped before it could cost them traffic.
The results
The redesign launched without the usual SEO cliff. Through the migration window, organic rankings didn't just survive — they grew, and the new Local SEO setup opened a second channel.
